After the success of the best-looking cars, here’s the ugliest-looking car of every team that raced between the 2010 and the 2019 seasons in F1.
We looked at the best and it’s time now to see the worst and we really mean it. Some cars may be predictable and some may not, as we had years with great, average and bad looking F1 cars. This decade was indeed a strange one, having seen cars changing from year to year on a high degree.
The list will follow the order of the best-looking cars of the decade and if you haven’t seen that list yet, take a look here, before you start this one.
Mercedes W03 (2012)
The 2012 season introduced us the ugly nose-steps on the F1 cars after a change of the regulations to make the cars safer. In order to comply with the rules, Mercedes created one of the ugliest noses on the grid and definitely deserves the title of the ugliest car the 2019 Champions made this decade.
Ferrari F2012 (2012)
Ferrari managed not only to make their ugliest car in 2012 too, but made it really hard to drive with the new pullrod front suspension. Even with these struggles, the team bounced back and Fernando Alonso almost won the championship that year. But the design, especially that front nose, didn’t help the case and surpassed the 2014 car to be named the ugliest Ferrari.
Red Bull RB11 (2015)
The Austrian outfit avoided the changed of 2014 with the huge nose “thumbs”, but managed to make an even uglier car next year. The RB11 of 2015 had the small thumb, a worse curvy nose and the dark, blue and purple colours just didn’t have the synergy. Also, the “Red Bull” sticker on the side is just out of place and completes the ugliest car the team produced this decade.
McLaren MP4-30 (2015)
McLaren had their own nightmare in 2015 with an underperforming and unreliable engine, while he had to endure 2 World Champions fighting not to finish last and driving this abomination of a car. One of the ugliest cars Woking ever produced with the updated front-nose, they even changed the livery to add an out of place red line in a black and soulless car.
Renault/Lotus E22 (2014)
There aren’t many words to describe how ugly this car was. From the best to the worst-looking car the factory ever made, the E22 was as ugly as it was at driving it, with Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado wanting to forget what a disaster that car was.
Toro Rosso STR9 (2014)
A team that hasn’t made many ugly cars on their short life span in F1, surely tried to minimize and did a decent job in 2014 with the new rules. But the result did not save the final rating. After looking for the third time that front nose, even with an adjustment they did in pre-season didn’t manage to save the stakes and the STR9 ended as the ugliest car of the Faenza factory on this decade.
Racing Point/Force India VJM06 (2014)
There aren’t many things to say about this car. In fact it is so ugly that it makes you uncomfortable looking on that ugly thing at the front of the nose. The VJM06 is without any doubt the ugliest car of Force India.
Alfa Romeo/Sauber C34 (2015)
Sauber avoided the 2014 season building a decent car, but in 2016 changed the colours to the most generic blue they could find, didn’t bother to create and left it plain, except the side and a line on the front nose, while the thumb in front seems like a result from a bee that was annoyed from the ugliest choice they could think to do. The C34 is the ugliest car the team produced by far this decade.
Haas VF-17 (2017)
The newest team on the grid actually does not have an ugly car to be fair. But if we had to choose, it must be the 2017 one simply because they added the ugly thumb at the front and changed the livery colours to the most forgettable ones they could think, removing all the character it had and built in the previous season.
Williams FW38 (2016)
The team that didn’t bother to change their car in three years, but made some alterations. The British outfit had the worst Martini liveries, perhaps of all time, and by 2016 made their car as we follow the front nose making an even sadder expression. Zero creativity and a stale concept, adding frustration to the table and here we have the best rating for the ugliest car Williams made this decade, the FW38.

Bonus
As we did in the best-looking cars, we’ll follow the same route with the ugliest ones and present you the worst-looking from the Collumn 3 teams.
Caterham CT05 (2014)
The first and only thing that comes to mind when seeing this car is simply a “No”. If we had to give the award for the ugliest car of the decade, the CT05 would have won with a huge margin. To be fair though, the team changed the front nose at the car later in the year, making it a lot bearable.
Manor-Marussia/Virgin MR03 (2015)
A car that was a refined version from 2014 did absolutely nothing in 2015 and had the ugliest possible livery. There aren’t much to say about this car, other that it was the ugliest the team produced from 2010.
HRT F110 (2010)
The small team from Spain entered the 2010 season with a lorry transformed into a Formula 1 car. It was painfully slow, but to be honest it was forgettable in terms of it’s livery, but we can’t really say that it is in fact ugly. From the three cars HRT made, this was the least pretty and that’s why it’s on the list.
